Tracy Chapman – All That You Have is Your Soul

A beautiful song by Tracy Chapman. The meaning of this song is don’t trust so easily and don’t be tricked by false promises and as cliche as it may sound to some Trust Yourself above all because  people will not always be there. Some people have only themselves to rely on.

Oh my mama told me
‘Cause she say she learned the hard way
She say she wanna spare the children
She say don’t give or sell your soul away
‘Cause all that you have is your soul

So don’t be tempted by the shiny apple
Don’t you eat of a bitter fruit
Hunger only for a taste of justice
Hunger only for a world of truth
‘Cause all that you have is your soul

I was a pretty young girl once
I had dreams I had high hopes
I married a man he stole my heart away
He gave his love but what a high price I paid
All that you have is your soul

So don’t be tempted by the shiny apple
Don’t you eat of a bitter fruit
Hunger only for a taste of justice
Hunger only for a world of truth
‘Cause all that you have is your soul

Why was I such a young fool
Thought I’d make history
Making babies was the best I could do
Thought I’d made something that could be mine forever
Found out the hard way one can’t possess another
And all that you have is your soul

So don’t be tempted by the shiny apple
Don’t you eat of a bitter fruit
Hunger only for a taste of justice
Hunger only for a world of truth
‘Cause all that you have is your soul

I thought, thought that I could find a way
To beat the system
To make a deal and have no debts to pay
I’d take it all, I’d take it all, I’d run away
Me for myself first class and first rate
But all that you have is your soul

So don’t be tempted by the shiny apple
Don’t you eat of a bitter fruit
Hunger only for a taste of justice
Hunger only for a world of truth
‘Cause all that you have is your soul

Here I am, I’m waiting for a better day
A second chance
A little luck to come my way
A hope to dream, a hope that I can sleep again
And wake in the world with a clear conscience and clean hands
‘Cause all that you have is your soul

So don’t be tempted by the shiny apple
Don’t you eat of a bitter fruit
Hunger only for a taste of justice
Hunger only for a world of truth
‘Cause all that you have is your soul

Oh my mama told me
‘Cause she say she learned the hard way
She say she wanna spare the children
She say don’t give or sell your soul away
‘Cause all that you have is your soul

All that you have
All that you have
All that you have
Is your soul.

The X Files – Season 10

I WANTED to Believe! I really did but this season was HUGELY disappointing. What a terrible season, not to mention the finale. This is NOT the show I came to know and love. From my POV Mulder and Scully did not have that magical spark/chemistry that made the show special. Perhaps it was me but they seemed bored with each other, especially Gillian Anderson. I’ll continue to love the original show and  watch my favorite episodes but that is it. I’m not looking forward to season 11. I think it is time to leave The X Files alone, for me the magic is gone.

This is how this season left me feeling . xf.jpg

Pablo Neruda – Poema 20

mujer+modernismo

So far I am in love with Russian classic literature.   I’ve only read a few books like Anna Karenina (my favorite), Crime & Punishment and The Idiot.  I will begin reading the Russian  tome  when I am living in a better environment because as of now where I am currently living is not the ideal place to read such an important book.  I am a little intimidated with the 1,444 pages, nonetheless, this will not prevent me from reading this novel.  I am currently watching the BBC miniseries and while it is a very different adaptation from the book (according to critics) I like the miniseries and it motivates me even more to read the book.

Drama, ER, Medical Drama, Medicine, Tv Shows

ER

By far the best Medical Drama I’ve seen on TV since St Elsewhere.  NBC was once must see TV Thursday nights, now it feels like it is Must MISS TV. This show had something that many shows today lack and that is humanity along with Superb acting. As much as I loved this show I stopped watching after season 8 when Mark died and most the original cast had already departed. I watched a few episodes of season 9 but it didn’t feel the same because with Mark Greene gone it seemed the heart and soul of the show went with him.  There are plenty of so called Medical dramas today that look more like soap operas (Grey’s Anatomy, Chicago MD) and I know  this  amazing would surely give them a run for their money.
